Not long ago, this column examined reasoning fallacies. One of those fallacies is reliance on the "halo effect." The effect isn't just a type of reasoning fallacy, however. Use of the effect as well as what some folks call the "horn effect" can put things such work-related and life-related activities as a job promotions, interviews or other workplace assessments into a negative light.
